Empowering Ashland

A Call to Take Action

Hi! This is Erin and Lorrie, executive director and board president of the Ashland Climate Collaborative.

Our nonpartisan nonprofit brings together people who want to do what they can about climate pollution — right here at home.

We know what causes the most climate pollution in our town — AND the big moves we can take to make a difference!

Erin and Lorrie

The BIG moves

  • Clean up our transportation – choose healthy ways to get around town
  • Clean up our home energy – switch to electric from gas (especially furnaces)
  • Clean up our landscaping tools – switch to electric mowers and blowers
  • Compost food waste – keep it out of landfills where it creates polluting gas
  • Conserve water in our yards – protect this precious natural resource
  • Learn firewise strategies – adapt our homes and yards to wildfire
  • Join a climate club – support neighbors and implement climate solutions

So what can WE do?

A single bicyclist is not going to solve this. One person using an electric mower won’t either.  But… what if our town of 21,400 people chooses to work together? What if collectively we…

  • Bike, walk, or drive an EV
  • Swap out our old gas furnace with an efficient heat pump
  • Give electric landscaping tools a try
  • Reduce and compost food scraps
  • Take action to protect our homes from fire
Heat Pump

How will we know it’s working?

Watch for throngs of people biking around town.

Look for “We’re Going Electric” signs in yards.

Check out the crowds at the compost bins at the Farmers Market.

You will actually SEE your community taking action!

Bike in town and electrify your home!

We have power. We have choices. And we have future generations to protect.

So that 50 years from now, our grandkids can ski down Mt. Ashland, ice skate at the rink, and enjoy smoke-free summers.

Join our movement!

We are building a joyous community of people who care about protecting future generations. You are part of this, too! We would love for you to get involved:

We are so excited to take action together!

With gratitude, Erin & Lorrie
